Who We Are
DIET Shahpur, Karnal is located in Shahpur village of the district on KarnalKaithal road about eleven kms from Karnal. It is situated amid green fields just 750 meters from the village Shahpur. The total area of the institute is 89 kanal& 19 marla (Approximate 12 acres) which was donated by the village panchayat.
The institute was established in the year 1994 under the scheme of government. The basic objective was to impart teacher training. In the beginning there were only 50 seats for D.Ed. course and 50 seats for OT Sanskrit. Later on the seat strength was raised to 200 and OT Sanskrit remained no more in existence. Now the D.Ed. program has been stopped in DIET..
The institute has history of providing quality education and training to the students and serving teachers. Around two thousand students have been trained. They have been serving the nation through different schools. The training of serving teachers has been a constant part of the institute.
Now as per the decision of state government, the D.El.Ed. program has been withdrawn from all DIETs of Haryana.
The institute has airy and clean classrooms. It is equipped with a rich Library, Science lab, Computer lab,Cultural centerand well maintained playground.
The institute has a well maintained hostel within the campus. All rooms are airy. As it is situated amid the green fields so the ambience is really attractive and pollution free. As Super 100 batch is going on in the institution, so these students are residing in it. Hygienic food, round the clock power supply, CCTV are the salient features.
Role Of DIET
As an apex body in the field of Basic Education at the district level DIET Shahpur has been assigned to fulfill the following objectives
To make sincere efforts in regards to enroll the children of age group 6-14 those who are identified through RTE Act 2009.
To increase minimum learning level and achievement level of the students as has been instructed by the education department under SMAGRA programs.
To prepare master trainers / resource persons to guide and train the teachers who are working in primary and upper primary schools, secondary and senior secondary schools..
To mentor and monitor the performance of different functionaries like B.R.C. / C.R.C. / A.B.R.C.s. to obtain a desired result.
DIET through its mentors keep a watch on the quality of teaching and the on going training programmes which take place at DIET as well as BRC / CRC level.
Sincere efforts are being made ensure maximum utility of T.L.M. (Teacher Learning Material) with a view to have an effective teaching process in the school education.
A careful watch in regard to access / retention / minimizing dropouts is being kept at DIET level through its mentors.
DIET Structure
DIET Shahpur (Karnal) has a academic faculty of highly qualified teachers who simultaneously work as Block Mentors too, specially to supervise the ongoing different schemes of government and guide the teachers to implement the scheme in an effective way.
